Blogger Interview: Arpitha of "Break Free Girl"

Hi guys!! Sorry I haven't been active lately, the holidays have been very overwhelming. Today is my first day off from work in two weeks so I'm definitely taking advantage. I have an exciting post for you all today and I interviewed Arpitha Sylvester from Break Free Girl, which is a fashion, beauty and lifestyle blog. I am obsessed with it because her posts are so relatable and helpful. Anyways, here's the interview and I hope you enjoy!

1.     Hi Arpitha, could you start by telling us a bit about yourself?

My full name is Arpitha Sylvester! I am from the lovely land of India. I am 23 and loving life at the moment! I have some amazing friends and family that is truly a blessing :) I have been blogging from past 8 months and it has been an amazing journey, I plan to make this my full time career in the future! I work at a startup called Mxit India Network as a UI and Graphic Designer and I totally love my job! Sometime... actually most of the time I find it hard to blog but I try my best to manage my life in front of the computer as efficient as possible. I have always been interested in fashion and beauty and reading and researching on these topics for many years now and now I feel I can share my knowledge with the world. Trust me when I say this.. I love every bit of it! I love to travel and visit new places and meet new people and I sometimes can be shy! ;)

2.     Can you tell us about your blog, and what inspired you to start it?

Well, I was into blogging from a very young age. My first blog was on and was about how I spent my day and all the stuff a typical teenage goes through. Haha… when I read that blog I feel I was very childish and immature and behaved like the whole world was on my shoulders! But now that I am so much into fashion and beauty and everything related to that I felt the need to share it with everyone. It is like a stress buster for me when I start writing. I feel a sense if calmness and peace when I share my knowledge with everyone!

3.     Where do you look for inspiration?

Well, as a designer I get inspired with almost everything. You catch me staring at the building for several minutes. Clicking pictures of things that don’t even make sense. But when it comes to blogging I look up to many bloggers who started off small and with an intention to truly help people and make their lives better. As an entrepreneur myself, I look up to women who work super hard and make the most out of their young age.

4.     How is your typical day?

My typical day is pretty boring! As a working girl, I wake up at 7 AM and go to work by 9 AM and on my way to work I listen to songs or podcast. From 9 am to 9:30 pm I check my mails…both office and personal then work till 6 PM. I try to slide a few minutes of the day to blogging and looking for inspiration and then after 6 I sometimes go for a run and workout for an hour and then come back and work on the blog. Sometimes I go out to catch up with friends. Most of my major work is done during the weekends and I schedule posts and all that as much as possible. I also am part of a few blogger communities so I catch up with friends their during the day. Its pretty hard to balance life and work since I just started working.

5.     Tell me about some of the people you've met while working on your blog?

I have met so many people in just a few months its so humbling. Its simply amazing that I get to meet so many different people everyday from different places and get to know them in a deeper level and work with them in creating something new and fresh since we all have the same mindset and goal!

6.     What do you find most challenging about blogging about your topic?

I find it hard at times to find the right topic! Let me explain why... when you chose a topic you got to keep your viewers in mind and when you write on a topic which your readers don’t take anything from.. you fail! I make sure I ask my readers what topic they like to see in the next blog post. It is very important to write on the right topic!

7.     What networking do you do that you feel helps your blogging business?

Independent Fashion Bloggers program and bloglovin! Love these two!

8.     What's the best thing a blogger can give to her readers?

This question made me think a lot! I think the best thing a blogger can give their readers is something that will add value to their lives... like enlighten them with knowledge on a certain topic that you are very well aware of.

9.     What was the most challenging moment in your blog content development process and why?

Let me be honest on this! I still find it hard to work with HTML and CSS! I sometimes get frustrated and many times felt like giving up!

10. Everyone has a favorite/least favorite post. Name yours and why?

My favorite post is How to choose the right shade of foundation?’ I love the fact that a lot of women find this post helpful. And my least favorite post is ‘Clean up your Diet’ I just thought I could have done a much better job!

11. If someone was interested in blogging, what would be a few things you would suggest?

I’d say go for it! Start small and don’t overwhelm yourself with blogging everyday… Whatever you do! Be consistent.

12. How long do you think you'll keep up the site?

I just started… so I never came across this thought at all. I guess I will keep it as long as I have the time and strength to work on it :)

Check her amazing posts out at !

And I PROMISE to post more now that I'm no longer on the verge of a mental breakdown anymore.
